Why is a morning routine so pivotal? It’s simple: it sets the tone. A well-crafted morning routine keeps your goals in sharp focus, energises your spirit, motivates your mind, and primes you for a day of heightened productivity. It’s about cultivating the right mindset and habits from the moment you open your eyes.

The Morning Routine
As the sun peeks above the horizon, my day begins. No snooze button for me; when the alarm sounds, I’m up. The first victory of the day is leaving the comfort of my bed without hesitation. I immediately hydrate with a glass of water, a simple yet vital act for health and vitality, before anything else—no shower, no shave, just life-giving water.
Next, I step into the shower, starting warm and soothing, but then, with a determined turn of the knob, I am bathed in a cascade of cold water. This isn’t just about waking up; it’s a ritual in discipline. As the cold freezes me, I stay calm, breathe deeply, and emerge with a buzz of energy. This act of willpower is a metaphor for the day ahead—choosing to do the hard, valuable things without procrastination.
Fully awake, I move on to my mind. In the quiet of the morning, I look over my personal vision board, a collection of images that represent my dreams and aspirations. It’s a daily reminder of where I’m headed, a source of motivation and clarity.
Set your subconscious mind to the right things
From dreams to concrete plans, I review my goals—my five-year vision, my annual milestones, and my 90-day targets. This practice keeps my path clear and my purpose at the forefront of my mind, ensuring that my subconscious, my reticular activating system, is tuned to the right frequency.
Affirmations follow. I speak aloud the qualities and characteristics I aspire to embody—the essence of who I need to be to realize my goals. These affirmations cover every facet of my life, from personal growth to professional achievement, shaping my identity and intentions.
Then, it’s time for reflection. I journal briefly but meaningfully, expressing gratitude for the blessings in my life and acknowledging progress, however small. I set my intentions for the day, committing to specific, achievable actions that ensure daily progress.
The final chapter of my morning priming is dedicated to growth. For about forty-five minutes, I immerse myself in books that challenge and expand my thinking. This time is sacred, not only for the knowledge I gain but for the ideas that often strike during these moments of quiet contemplation.
By the time the rest of my household stirs, I am fully charged—clear on my direction, enthusiastic about my progress, and armed with fresh insights. I’ve learned, I’ve planned, and I’ve set the stage for a successful day.
